Research & Verification Standards

The source hierarchy and verification practices we use for specifications, model details, maintenance guidance, and factual claims.

Research Sources & Verification Standards

This page is the source-verification companion to our primary review methodology. It explains the hierarchy CoffeeGearHub uses when verifying specifications, model details, maintenance guidance, and other factual claims about coffee equipment.

Primary sources come first

For product-specific technical claims, we prefer manufacturer product pages, manuals, support documentation, parts catalogs, warranty information, and official technical resources. When those sources conflict with retailer copy, we treat the manufacturer documentation as the stronger source unless there is evidence it is outdated.

How we use retailer information

Retailer pages help confirm current availability, model naming, bundles, and whether a product is still actively sold. Retailer descriptions are not treated as independent evidence for performance claims, and temporary prices are not presented as permanent facts.

Customer reviews and community evidence

User reviews, owner communities, and coffee forums can reveal recurring workflow problems, reliability patterns, cleaning issues, or compatibility edge cases that specifications do not show. We look for repeated patterns across multiple sources rather than elevating one anecdote into a general conclusion.

Precise claims need support

Exact numerical claims—such as capacity, burr size, temperature range, adjustment resolution, power, dimensions, or measured performance—should be tied to a source or clearly identified as CoffeeGearHub’s own measurement when first-hand testing occurred. If a precise claim cannot be supported reliably, we prefer to remove or qualify it.

Freshness checks

  • Confirm that the recommended model is still current.
  • Check manufacturer documentation when model revisions or naming changes occur.
  • Replace discontinued products when a current alternative better serves the reader.
  • Recheck affiliate and merchant links when a product listing changes.
  • Update articles when a material specification or recommendation changes.

Corrections

If a source changes or a factual error is identified, CoffeeGearHub may update the affected article, revise the recommendation, or remove an unsupported claim. Readers can report issues through our contact page.
